Sherifview Poem: Hold Me Tight

Throw your arms around me
firm and tight
Let's touch cheek to cheek
Whisper sweet words of love
all we utter and speak
Release me and
let me be free
try to catch me hiding
behind the bushes
and ehind the trees
I will run farther
Try to catch me
little be harder
I will lay down near the lake
we will rest and enjoy the breeze
Come over
Get closer
Hold me tight back again
kiss me softly
Whisper words of love

Abu al-Qasim al-Shabbi  The Poet of the Tunisia and Egyptian Revolution     At many of the protests in Tunisia, Egypt and elsewhere people have been chanting the verses of a Tunisian poet Abu al-Qasim al-Shabi .   Uvalde I’m struck with news and views today __ As youth and truth lie dead. Words bruise me in a mad melee __ Of mind-marauding dread. I’m stunned by words, too many heard __ To mull and comprehend— Cacophonies of what occurred __ And why we’ve reached this end. Excuses rise like ghostly smoke __ And choke my waning trust.
