No suffering, no sorrow, no pain
No summer wind and no pouring rain
My love to you is not reciprocal
I will not bow down
I will walk tall
The autumn leaves will be crisp and dry
I will not notice you when your shadow passes by

Abu al-Qasim al-Shabbi  The Poet of the Tunisia and Egyptian Revolution     At many of the protests in Tunisia, Egypt and elsewhere people have been chanting the verses of a Tunisian poet Abu al-Qasim al-Shabi .   Uvalde I’m struck with news and views today __ As youth and truth lie dead. Words bruise me in a mad melee __ Of mind-marauding dread. I’m stunned by words, too many heard __ To mull and comprehend— Cacophonies of what occurred __ And why we’ve reached this end. Excuses rise like ghostly smoke __ And choke my waning trust.
