Sherifview Poem Yesterday


Yesterday will not come again

This may bring sorrow and pain

Happy moments that you wished have lasted

You are not certain what the future will bring

There is apprehension

You fear there may be agony

Sadness and despair

The time marches on

Slowly but certain

Never ever it can be reversed

Yesterday is an enigma

What it was?

Where it is gone?

We live in fairy tale

The time marches on

And takes us in a journey

We never know where it will lead?

Abu al-Qasim al-Shabbi  The Poet of the Tunisia and Egyptian Revolution     At many of the protests in Tunisia, Egypt and elsewhere people have been chanting the verses of a Tunisian poet Abu al-Qasim al-Shabi .   Uvalde I’m struck with news and views today __ As youth and truth lie dead. Words bruise me in a mad melee __ Of mind-marauding dread. I’m stunned by words, too many heard __ To mull and comprehend— Cacophonies of what occurred __ And why we’ve reached this end. Excuses rise like ghostly smoke __ And choke my waning trust.
