Lion Lion

Lion you are the mighty one

You are the king of the jungle

You are the feared one

Your roar loud and awsome

Echos through the praries and safaries

The animals are freightened when they hear it

They run and for their lives

And you follow in pursuit

Hungry, hungry for a meal

This is your only way for survival

Your crown golden fur is majestic

Your jaw and canine are crushing

At the day you rest and have a nab

At the night you are awake and scouting for a prey

So long, long live you lion

You king of the jungle

Abu al-Qasim al-Shabbi  The Poet of the Tunisia and Egyptian Revolution     At many of the protests in Tunisia, Egypt and elsewhere people have been chanting the verses of a Tunisian poet Abu al-Qasim al-Shabi .   Uvalde I’m struck with news and views today __ As youth and truth lie dead. Words bruise me in a mad melee __ Of mind-marauding dread. I’m stunned by words, too many heard __ To mull and comprehend— Cacophonies of what occurred __ And why we’ve reached this end. Excuses rise like ghostly smoke __ And choke my waning trust.
