Poem I love the Green Color February 2014

I love the green
this beautiful color
the color of prairies and valleys
the fields, grass and shrubs
the green trees bring us shadow
give us oxygen we breath
the green is the sign of life
for the food that sustain us
for the fruit trees that
fills the orchards and gardens
for their beautiful gifts
apples, oranges and pears
I love the green
for the many vegetables we eat
the green is beauty
the green grass what a pleasure
we sit on to party and enjoy
our fellow animals feed on the grass
How joy to watch the rabbits and squirrels
chewing on the grass and nuts
hiding behind the bushes
running and dancing around the trees
oh how beautiful and inspiration
the color green

I love my apple
Sweet and crunchy
It gives me swiftly
relaxation and energy
Oh I love its colors
Red, Green and yellow
It looks so lovely
Round and shiny
Its skin smooth and silky
I eat one or two
When I am hungry

Abu al-Qasim al-Shabbi  The Poet of the Tunisia and Egyptian Revolution     At many of the protests in Tunisia, Egypt and elsewhere people have been chanting the verses of a Tunisian poet Abu al-Qasim al-Shabi . During the Tunisian anti-colonial uprising in the early 1900s his poem “The Will to Live” became famous and it is now being repeated. إذَا الشَّعْبُ يَوْماًً أرَادَ الْحَيَـــــــاةَ فَلَا بُــدَّ أن يَسْتَجِيبَ القَــــدَر وَلاَ بُدَّ لِلــــيْلِ أن يَنْجَلِــــــــــي وَلاَ بُـــدَّ للقَيْـــِد أن يَنْكَسِــــر وَمَنْ لَمْ يُعَانِــقْهُ شَوْقُ الْحَيَــاةِ تَبَـــخَّرَ في جـَـوَّهَـا وَانْدَثـَـــر If the people will to live Providence is destined to favorably respond And night is destined to fold And the chains are certain to be broken And he who has not embraced the love of life Will evaporate in its atmosphere and disappear This translation was done by As’ad Abu Khalil.   Uvalde I’m struck with news and views today __ As youth and truth lie dead. Words bruise me in a mad melee __ Of mind-marauding dread. I’m stunned by words, too many heard __ To mull and comprehend— Cacophonies of what occurred __ And why we’ve reached this end. Excuses rise like ghostly smoke __ And choke my waning trust. I glimpse a dagger beneath a cloak __ As details are discussed. The buzz and din and gab and spin __ Will bang on all year long, And rectitude will never win __ Unless we hear its song.
