Poem Life

 

Life is a dingy ship

Sailing in vast ocean

You are alone

You are the captain in command

You need to survive

The high waves surround you

Rocking your boat

Days and nights

The trip continues

Sun light, bright sky

Crescent moon, dark nights

You are in a journey

Some call it life

You never know

When it began?

You never know when it will end?

Somehow it is a mysterious ocean

It is a puzzle

And some day

You will reach the edge

And you will sink with your boat

And this is the final

This is the end

Abu al-Qasim al-Shabbi  The Poet of the Tunisia and Egyptian Revolution     At many of the protests in Tunisia, Egypt and elsewhere people have been chanting the verses of a Tunisian poet Abu al-Qasim al-Shabi .   Uvalde I’m struck with news and views today __ As youth and truth lie dead. Words bruise me in a mad melee __ Of mind-marauding dread. I’m stunned by words, too many heard __ To mull and comprehend— Cacophonies of what occurred __ And why we’ve reached this end. Excuses rise like ghostly smoke __ And choke my waning trust.
