Poem The Child's Smile by Sherif Monem

Put smile on the child face

Let it glow and shine

Let it spread happiness around

The child is new member of the human race

The child is born in new world

He and she need to survive and strong

He and she need tenderness and care

If the child is hungry he and she will cry

If the child is lonely he and she will cry

They are the new members of the human race

We are the crown of the animal kingdom

We are most social we are fountain of emotions

Talk to the child and sing

Touch, hug and embrace

Give the child the nourishing food

Give him and her the healthy drink

The shelter and the comfortable clothes

Smile to the child and he and she will smile back

In their smiles lay the innocence of world we dreamed of

Abu al-Qasim al-Shabbi  The Poet of the Tunisia and Egyptian Revolution     At many of the protests in Tunisia, Egypt and elsewhere people have been chanting the verses of a Tunisian poet Abu al-Qasim al-Shabi .   Uvalde I’m struck with news and views today __ As youth and truth lie dead. Words bruise me in a mad melee __ Of mind-marauding dread. I’m stunned by words, too many heard __ To mull and comprehend— Cacophonies of what occurred __ And why we’ve reached this end. Excuses rise like ghostly smoke __ And choke my waning trust.
