Obey

BEHOLD---- A fantasy I offer you this
An island of unreachable mortal bliss
Ocean breeze carries the milky way to mars
fireworks a display of shooting galaxy stars
unimaginable beaches under silver skies
sand of rainbow glitter it shine never dies
breathtaking landscapes even dreams adore
sorrow and pain are heard of no more
alien planets undiscovered by mortal man
anxieties and fears are exiled and ban
only shadow feathers can fly you there
beyond your universe parallel to air
pleasures and ecstasy promised everyday
to have this gift there is only one way
you must die by your own hand this day
  ALL THIS IS YOURS IF YOU JUST OBEY!

Abu al-Qasim al-Shabbi  The Poet of the Tunisia and Egyptian Revolution     At many of the protests in Tunisia, Egypt and elsewhere people have been chanting the verses of a Tunisian poet Abu al-Qasim al-Shabi .   Uvalde I’m struck with news and views today __ As youth and truth lie dead. Words bruise me in a mad melee __ Of mind-marauding dread. I’m stunned by words, too many heard __ To mull and comprehend— Cacophonies of what occurred __ And why we’ve reached this end. Excuses rise like ghostly smoke __ And choke my waning trust.
