Swirling Death Poem by Marush
Swirling Death
There once was a maiden who loved to dance
Swirling and whirling, like some wild romance
She danced all day, and she danced all night
She danced alone or with whomever was in sight
The villagers were angry, "She's crazy and mad"
"Drive her out of the village!", "This sight is so sad"
"What devil is possessing her?" they all seemed to wonder
"What is this ailment from which she does suffer?"
So they did drive her out, but she didn't care
Through the forest she danced, with her feet cold and bare
And there did she catch someone else's attention
He was watching her for a while, with some admiration
He got up to dance with her, and she didn't seem to observe
His rattling dark bones that through centuries time did preserve
She held tightly onto his long, dry, bony hand
And gazed into his sockets as if in dreamland
And to this day they dance in that forest together
But to see them would indeed be quite a treasure
Elusive they are, forever spinning around
Dancing to the rhythm of the forest's misty sound
