A Faded Memory of My Past
You are a faded memory of my past,
at first it was hard to forget the love we shared,
it was once strong as a mighty oak tree,
sharing each other's thoughts forever free.
You are a faded memory of my past,
glimpses of running through the grass,
chasing each other until we fell
on top of a soft bed of clover in the dell.
You are a faded memory of my past,
recalling how we held hands while walking along
the streets of our hometown loving each other,
dreaming about becoming a loving wife and mother.
You are a faded memory of my past,
my first love who I leaned on for added strength,
what I thought would be a lifetime union
turned into shambles of heartbreak and disunion.
You are a faded memory of my past,
pictures of us tucked away in old shoe boxes,
stored in a damp and dark basement of old,
a house we once shared which was eventually sold.
at first it was hard to forget the love we shared,
it was once strong as a mighty oak tree,
sharing each other's thoughts forever free.
