Poem Time To Go Home Allpoetry
Time To Go Home
The sunlight
Broken by the branches of the trees
Poured through like spotlights
Upon the ground
Walking down the country road
His eyes took in the beauty
Of the early morning hours
Filled with the wonder
That could only come
After a wild autumn storm
Small animals
Gathering food for the coming frost
Scurried about
While in the air
Birds practiced for the long flight
Back to their southern grounds
It was the changing time
For most everything about
As he turned to retrace his steps
With a cane in hand
That landed before the movement
Of his feet
He joyfully realized
Just like all the life about him
He too
Was going home
Broken by the branches of the trees
Poured through like spotlights
Upon the ground
Walking down the country road
His eyes took in the beauty
Of the early morning hours
Filled with the wonder
That could only come
After a wild autumn storm
Small animals
Gathering food for the coming frost
Scurried about
While in the air
Birds practiced for the long flight
Back to their southern grounds
It was the changing time
For most everything about
As he turned to retrace his steps
With a cane in hand
That landed before the movement
Of his feet
He joyfully realized
Just like all the life about him
He too
Was going home
