Sherifview Poem: Rainy and Thunderous Day

When the sun sets
and says farewell for the day
when the dark heavy clouds
gather obscuring the night stars
when the chill fills the air
an ominous weary feeling
batters the soul
the elusive quietness about to change
A mighty loud thunder rocks the ground
the heavy rain pours from the sky
the rain bangs on the windows
slams the roof
the arcs of light illuminate the dark sky
the serenity of the place has shattered
the nature speaks in fury
it is show of its might
the nature choreographs
this night drama
when the nature fury withers
and it is all over
the morning will come
with it sunshine
the nature will bring
peace again

Abu al-Qasim al-Shabbi  The Poet of the Tunisia and Egyptian Revolution     At many of the protests in Tunisia, Egypt and elsewhere people have been chanting the verses of a Tunisian poet Abu al-Qasim al-Shabi .   Uvalde I’m struck with news and views today __ As youth and truth lie dead. Words bruise me in a mad melee __ Of mind-marauding dread. I’m stunned by words, too many heard __ To mull and comprehend— Cacophonies of what occurred __ And why we’ve reached this end. Excuses rise like ghostly smoke __ And choke my waning trust.
