The Autumn Melody
The summer months had passed by
The autumn have arrived
The tree are adorned
with colors like bride
The swift wind passes by
The trees swing in tempo
in beauty and harmony
The sun golden rays shines
on the pastures and hamlets
You can hear the autumn melody

Abu al-Qasim al-Shabbi  The Poet of the Tunisia and Egyptian Revolution     At many of the protests in Tunisia, Egypt and elsewhere people have been chanting the verses of a Tunisian poet Abu al-Qasim al-Shabi .   Uvalde I’m struck with news and views today __ As youth and truth lie dead. Words bruise me in a mad melee __ Of mind-marauding dread. I’m stunned by words, too many heard __ To mull and comprehend— Cacophonies of what occurred __ And why we’ve reached this end. Excuses rise like ghostly smoke __ And choke my waning trust. I glimpse a dagger beneath a cloak __ As details are discussed. The buzz and din and gab and spin __ Will bang on all year long, And rectitude will never win __ Unless we hear its song.
