Your heart feels lonely
When your son departs
He leaves and travels
To distant land
He is no more around
You don’t hear his sound
You don’t hear him talking
You don’t see him nearby
You have to adjust to new facts
Accept life as it changes
To new realities
Lick your heart sadness
Time is the only remedy
That helps us all heal

Abu al-Qasim al-Shabbi  The Poet of the Tunisia and Egyptian Revolution     At many of the protests in Tunisia, Egypt and elsewhere people have been chanting the verses of a Tunisian poet Abu al-Qasim al-Shabi .   Uvalde I’m struck with news and views today __ As youth and truth lie dead. Words bruise me in a mad melee __ Of mind-marauding dread. I’m stunned by words, too many heard __ To mull and comprehend— Cacophonies of what occurred __ And why we’ve reached this end. Excuses rise like ghostly smoke __ And choke my waning trust.
