I Love the Color Green

the color of prairies and valleys

the trees, shrubs and grass

the green trees have delightful shadow

They produce oxygen we breath

Oh the rain forests the lung of the earth

The green is the sign of life


Oh! the green trees that

fill the orchards and gardens

They bear precious gifts

apples, oranges and pears

I love the green

for the many vegetables we eat

the green is beauty

we sit in the midst of the gardens and watch

the rabbits ,squirrels and chipmunk

jumping around and playing

some eating grass and others chewing on nuts

oh the color green

all beauty and inspiration

We all love the color green

Abu al-Qasim al-Shabbi  The Poet of the Tunisia and Egyptian Revolution     At many of the protests in Tunisia, Egypt and elsewhere people have been chanting the verses of a Tunisian poet Abu al-Qasim al-Shabi .   Uvalde I’m struck with news and views today __ As youth and truth lie dead. Words bruise me in a mad melee __ Of mind-marauding dread. I’m stunned by words, too many heard __ To mull and comprehend— Cacophonies of what occurred __ And why we’ve reached this end. Excuses rise like ghostly smoke __ And choke my waning trust.
