Poem The Stars of The Sky by Sherif Monem 2012


At the midst darkness of the nights
The panorama lights
of the stars shine in the sky
It tells the glory of our creator 
Of the mysterious universe we live 
Magnificent and beautiful
Enormous and vast
All capture our soul 
The feeling wonderments and sigh
From time billions years ago
The stars came into being
Through massive explosions
As the story been told
They raced through space and time
Forming mighty bright galaxies
The theater of time is amazing
0f fascinating time that passed
A time we have never witnessed
And of future time
We will never comprehend

Abu al-Qasim al-Shabbi  The Poet of the Tunisia and Egyptian Revolution     At many of the protests in Tunisia, Egypt and elsewhere people have been chanting the verses of a Tunisian poet Abu al-Qasim al-Shabi .   Uvalde I’m struck with news and views today __ As youth and truth lie dead. Words bruise me in a mad melee __ Of mind-marauding dread. I’m stunned by words, too many heard __ To mull and comprehend— Cacophonies of what occurred __ And why we’ve reached this end. Excuses rise like ghostly smoke __ And choke my waning trust. I glimpse a dagger beneath a cloak __ As details are discussed. The buzz and din and gab and spin __ Will bang on all year long, And rectitude will never win __ Unless we hear its song.
